celebrities wearing belt buckles

The oldest belt buckle dates from the first century when Romans ruled the fashion of the time. This little item survived through the years and made it to the 21st century, but few people know how to choose a belt buckle, nor how to wear it.

First, you should match your belt with your shoes and your buckle should fit in nicely with the belt and the entire outfit. When you wear a pair of black shoes, for example, you should match them with a black belt. As for the belt buckle, it must be matched with your other accessories. If you wear stainless steel accessories, your belt buckle must belong to the same chromatic family and material, so you could choose a stainless steel belt buckle or a platinum one.

What not to wear: silver-like accessories and golden belt buckle or vice-versa.

Don’t mix styles: if you wear a t-shirt with denim pants don’t put on an elegant belt with a stylish belt buckle. Instead, choose a sporty belt and a playful belt buckle or a western-style belt buckle. It will give you a smart/sporty look.

On the other hand, when adopting a smart office look and wearing a grey jacket on top of a dress, you can accessorize your outfit with a black, simple belt and a golden belt buckle, like Cameron Diaz.

Even if big belt buckles are old-fashioned, you can still wear them if you like, but be careful how you match them and when you wear them. On a crazy night out or on a weekdays outings, a big, flat belt buckle can take your outfit to a whole new level, but it’s inappropriate to wear this kind of buckle at work or when attending a classy event.

A good idea is to match a big western belt buckle with a big cowboy-style hat. Throw in a suit jacket, denim pants and a white shirt and your outfit will be complete, whether you are a man or a woman.

A huge mistake when it comes to belts and buckles is wearing them with suspenders. No matter how wacky, sporty or colorful you want to look, no matter how small is the belt buckle or how thin is the belt, never wear a belt and suspenders at the same time. These two pieces just can’t be mixed!

If you aim for a gaga look choose a plain belt and match it with an oversized belt buckle with a message on it, like Madonna.

Hot Buckles was Featured in the LA times on January 18th relating to the Golden globes Frugal Accessories.

Watching the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards show last Sunday was a reminder of the power of a single accessory to transform a look.

Emma Stone, Charlize Theron and Michelle Williams expertly used accessories to add an extra touch of style and whimsy to their red-carpet gowns.

Stone accentuated her maroon and fuchsia pleated Lanvin gown by cinching the waist with a bold leather belt with jewel-encrusted buckle in the shape of an eagle. The belt, looking like something you might expect from a biker, was unexpected and a playful contrast to the ethereal quality of her gown.

It’s officially Summer! This means it’s time for barbecues, beaches, and big blockbusters in the theaters! This summer is full of some new and amazing films that I can’t wait to see.

Recently released, Star Trek is already my favorite for the summer. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and the always wonderful Leonard Nimoy make this film a must see. The story is has been touted as a re-imagining of The Original Series, but after seeing the film I think that is untrue. I believe it adds to the series as a whole. We do see a sleek retooling of the Scant, the short dress worn by females and occasionally males in the Original Series. It’s sleek and sexy withan air of authority. Kirk barely wears a uniform in the film, but that’s alright. We see plenty of uniform action in both Starfleet Academy and deep space scenes.

Another Blockbuster has been Wolverine. Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the title character. This film makes the always handsome and well kept Jackman and turns him into the rough, tough, big belt buckle wearing dude we all know and love. This film has done really well in the theaters and that’s not surprising since we get to see characters like Gambit, Sabretooth, and another big buckler John Wraith, played by Will I Am from the Black Eyed Peas.

Transformers :  Revenge of the Fallen came out June 24th, and I could not be more excited! This weekend I will finally see it! Transformers was one of my favorite films of 2007 and in the theater I nearly hovered out of the seat with excitement. Starring Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox, this sequel was projected to knock the socks off of previous theater records and it definitely did that. The trailer for this film looks amazing and when I finally see it you know I’ll be hovering on the edge of my seat and rooting for my favorite character, Optimus Prime. Megan Fox is definitely foxier in this film. She’s still rocking the tight jeans and shirts, but this time we see her doing more  of the mechanical work she mostly spoke of in the last film. The only thing better than Megan Fox, is Megan Fox covered in dirt and oil.

Herry Potter enters theaters on July 15th. It’s expected to outdo the other HP films and I look forward to the older Harry, Ron, and Hermione and the beginnings of future romances. In this film we see Dumbledore attempting to prepare Harry for what he knows is to come with the reemergance of Lord Voldemort and the Death Eaters. If you haven’t read the book, I would suggest you do. It is not possible to capture the entire essence of the Harry Potter world without reading the books. The films are good, but the books are what captured the hearts and minds of the world.

You are sitting at home in your comfortably flannel pajama pants and a pizza stained t-shirt. With a bag of potato chips in one hand and the remote in the other, you excitedly switch on the tube to watch the event of the year… well, at least of the week … the Academy Awards.

Which films have been nominated? You are not sure. Who is the Oscar favorite for “Best Cinematography?” You do not care.

What will Halle be wearing?
How many diamonds will fit around Nicole’s thin little wrist?
Yes! Those are the questions!

And thus we see the reason for the relationship between fashion designers and our favorite A-list celebrities. Calvin, Donatella, Marc, and the rest of the gang are certainly not fools! Fashion designers are aesthetically driven – they seek to create physical beauty inspired by their thoughts, ideas, and visions. This physical beauty is known to us as clothing. And how beautiful it truly is!

And what can be better than a meticulously constructed and designed floor length Vera Wang gown? A meticulously constructed and designed floor length Vera Wang gown on Julia Roberts! Fuse the most beautiful fashion designs with some of the most beautiful faces, bodies and people and the result borders on sublime – a sensory delight that keeps us tuned in and left wanting to emulate.

Flashback to the months leading up to my senior prom…just weeks after Gwenyth Paltrow won her Academy Award for “Best Actress,” the racks of Macy’s were overflowing with replicas of Paltrow’s bubblegum pink ball gown. As much as we value our individual tastes and fashion sense, there is at least a part of us (no matter how small), that emulates the beauty we find in the world. This is natural, right?

I have heard that a celebrity wearing your gown/tux/creation to a red carpet event is worth over a million dollars in advertising. Further, they tell me that slipping a gorgeous frock onto an Academy Award winner is worth tens of millions of dollars in advertising. This does not seem to be much of a stretch. Beauty sells – making the relationship between fashion and celebrity brilliant….
