#FreeTheNipple or Risk Censorship?

This summer, prepare yourself as you may see some women walking around the beach with their nipples showing. Don’t be shocked or fooled; they may be wearing the new Tata Top – a bikini top with emblazoned pink nipples on the cups! No, this isn’t a prank; the top’s creators have a more feminist agenda in mind.
Men walk shirtless freely anytime they want to, while being a topless woman is illegal in some American states.  Such gender inequality has led to the creation of the realistic garment.

Robyn Graves and Michelle Lytle, the creators of the Tata Top has written this on their website: “Why can’t girls be topless? If you really think about it, what’s the difference between a man’s nipples and a woman’s? Is it really just the extra breast tissue? Is it the fact that women’s nipples are paired with a vagina? Is it the presence of a real and true female nipple bare to the world that is so offensive, that is so horrid that it must be kept covered?Who is this law protecting and what are they protecting them from? What message does it send to young women about their bodies? That they should be ashamed and keep them covered?”
Although indirectly associated, the controversial bikini hits online stores in the wake of the #FreeTheNipple movement, which is a campaign originally started byLinaEsco, a filmmaker. The movement has causeda lot of women to walk around New York without any top to end gender-specific double standards. It even received a boost via Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter, Scout Willis, as she wandered topless through the city, while documenting it on Twitter.
The TaTa Top will allow women to support the campaign in a completely legal and intelligently sneaky manner!
“You look topless…but you aren’t, and therefore, are not breaking any laws,” the website emphasizes.

“If the sight of uncovered nipples makes you shudder in fear or pop off in anger, then game on and may the breast girl win.”

Customers have already been proudly wearing the bikini, even sharing photos via their Instagram accounts.
The Tata Top is currently available only for light skin tones, but more skin tones will be available soon. It can be bought for $28 (£16). $5 from each purchase will be donated to a breast cancer charity, the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation.
